There’s a soothing quality to Will and the Wisps that makes time run away from you, and an incredibly consistent amount of love in every tiny detail, from the way branches bounce and bow underfoot to Ori’s tumbling, leaping movements. It’s inconsistent and sometimes annoying, but ultimately a charming, challenging, heart-string-pulling fable.Īnd ultimately, it’s worth battling through to witness, too. There are some technical issues, and as a follow-up it doesn’t quite have the same debutant magic of the original, but it’s definitively a better game with expanded choice in combat, a user-friendly save system, and excellent level design that masterfully combines all elements of its gameplay so well it has you believing it is you who is the master. The title runs at 4K resolution on Xbox One X. The game will be part of Xbox Game Pass at launch.
